What information we collect
When you enquire or request a brochure, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, your wedding year or event date, the package you are interested in, how you heard about us, and anything you tell us in your message.
When you book an event with us, we additionally collect billing and payment information, details of your guests where you provide them (including dietary requirements and accessibility needs), supplier contact details, and correspondence relating to your event.
When you stay in our accommodation, we collect the details required to manage your booking.
When you visit our website, we collect information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited and how you arrived at our site. You can control this through our cookie banner and the preferences panel.
When you contact us by telephone, email or social media, we keep a record of that correspondence.
Why we use your information, and our legal basis
We use your information to:
- Respond to your enquiry and send you information you have asked for, such as our brochure. Our legal basis is legitimate interests — you have contacted us and we are replying.
- Follow up on your enquiry with a small number of related emails about visiting us. Our legal basis is legitimate interests. You can stop these at any time using the unsubscribe link or by replying to any email.
- Manage your booking and deliver your event, including coordinating with your suppliers and our team. Our legal basis is performance of a contract.
- Send you marketing emails about news, offers and events at Tawstock Court. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the marketing box on our forms. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including accounting, tax, health and safety, and licensing records. Our legal basis is legal obligation.
- Improve our website and understand how people find us. Our legal basis is consent, given through our cookie banner.
Special category data
If you tell us about dietary requirements, allergies, medical conditions or accessibility needs — yours or your guests’ — this may be health information, which receives extra protection under data protection law. We use it only to make your event safe and enjoyable, we share it only with those who need it (such as our kitchen team), and we delete it once it is no longer needed. Our legal basis is your explicit consent.
Who we share your information with
We share personal information with:
- Our service providers, who process data on our behalf under contract. These include our website host, our email marketing platform, our enquiry and booking systems, and our payment processor. Some of these providers are based outside the UK; where that is the case, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements or adequacy regulations.
- Suppliers working on your event, such as caterers, florists or photographers, but only the information they need and only where you have asked us to coordinate with them.
- Professional advisers and authorities, where we are legally required or permitted to do so.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 24 months from your last contact with us, after which we delete them.
- Booking and event records: for 7 years after your event, to meet accounting and legal requirements.
- Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe, or after 24 months of no engagement.
- Website analytics: as set out in our cookie preferences panel.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances
- Ask us to restrict how we use it
- Object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests, including for marketing
- Receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is our legal basis

Tawstock Court is a Grade II listed Georgian house set in thirty acres of North Devon countryside. We want everyone to enjoy their time here, and we are committed to making that as easy as we can within the constraints of a historic building.
This page sets out what we can offer, and where the limitations are. We would much rather tell you honestly in advance than have you arrive and find something difficult.

Every event here is different, and so is every guest’s requirement. The most useful thing you can do is tell us what you need — well ahead of your visit or your event — and we will work out how to make it happen.

A historic building
Tawstock Court dates from the eighteenth century, and parts of the estate are older still. As a listed building, there are limits on the alterations we can make. Some areas have steps, uneven historic floors, narrow doorways or changes in level that we cannot remove.
We have worked to improve access where we are able, and we continue to look for ways to do more.
Planning your visit
If you are coming to view the venue, let us know about any access requirements when you book and we will plan a route that works for you, allow extra time, and make sure someone is available to help.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the venue and grounds.
Hearing and sight
If you would find it helpful to receive information in large print, or would like our brochure or documents in an alternative format, please ask and we will arrange it.
