Wondering what’s included in your wedding package or whether we’re wheelchair friendly? Whatever your question, there’s a good chance you’ll find the answer below. Please do get in touch if you have any other burning questions or want to book.
Do you have accommodation onsite?
We have recently restored 4 dwellings onsite, totalling 20 en-suite rooms with shared lounges for up to 50 guests. This incorporates a mix of family, double and twin rooms.
How many guests can we have for our wedding reception dinner?
We have 2 main function rooms in the main house. The Morning Room can accommodate up to 70 people for dinner and The Old Refectory can accommodate up to 110 people. For larger celebrations we have a space for a marquee accommodating up to 250 people which can attach onto the main house.
Can we get married at Tawstock Court
Yes, we have a license to carry out civil weddings both inside the main house and in outside areas. If you would like to say your vows at Tawstock Court you will need to contact Devon County Council to register Tel: 0345 155 1002
Can we provide our own wine or Champagne?
Yes, you may provide your own wine and champagne during your wedding reception dinner subject to corkage charges. All other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks must be provided by Tawstock Court.
Are there any requirements for suppliers?
We are happy for you to book external companies, but they must contact the Venue in the first instance and provide us with requested documentation and information specified in our Terms & Conditions.
Do you have a licensed bar?
We have a well-stocked licensed bar in the main house serving a large range of different alcoholic drinks including a gin list and extensive wine list.
Can we accommodate guests with additional needs?
We have an accessible room located in the Stables dwelling at ground level which has a fully equipped disabled en-suite bathroom.
Are there any other events scheduled on the same day?
No, as part of our exclusive use, you and your guests will be the only visitors staying at Tawstock Court for your wedding day.
How long can you provisionally hold a date for?
Your quote is valid for 7 days but your date will only be secured once the deposit is paid.
When can we come and have a look around?
We would love you to visit Tawstock Court for a private viewing and we can show you all we have to offer for your special day. Please complete our online booking calendar to select a date and time which is convenient for you.
Can we use confetti?
Yes but we ask that is natural biodegradable confetti please such as rose petals or dried flowers.
Can we use sky lanterns?
No, we are sorry we cannot allow any sky lanterns at the venue.
Do you have travel cots and high chairs available?
Yes, we do have some travel cots and high chairs available on a first come first serve basis. Please contact us if you wish to reserve any.
Can we get married in the local church?
Yes, St Peters Church is just at the bottom of the front garden and it is available for weddings. You will need to contact the vicar for information and availability. Email: highbickrectory@gmail.com
Can my photographer come for a look around before my wedding?
They are very welcome to come and visit before your big day to familiarise themselves with the site and best places for photo opportunities within the grounds.
Can you recommend wedding suppliers?
Yes, we are happy to recommend some wonderful wedding suppliers and these are listed in our friends section on our website.
When do I have to confirm final numbers?
You need to confirm final numbers at least 14 days before your wedding day.
How many people can you accommodate for the wedding ceremony?
We have a variety of rooms that can be used to say your vows. Our panelled hall is very popular and can hold up to 90 people in total. We also have outdoor spaces available and this is for any amount of guests.
Is your venue easy to find?
Yes, we are just 2 miles outside of Barnstaple – just a couple of minutes drive from the A361 link road. There are three different routes to get to the village of Tawstock and it is signposted when you get there.
Is there a quieter area for any guests who wish to get away from the noise of the evening entertainment?
There is a large conservatory lounge area attached to our accommodation dwellings which has beautiful views across the valley. This can be used by all guests staying with us. We also have a lounge in the main house for people who would like a quieter room.
Are we able to camp onsite?
We have a large field just behind our sports hall which is perfect for camping. There is also a large field at the top of our site just behind the woods with amazing views across Barnstaple and Tawstock House.
What are your catering options?
We are happy to be flexible with our catering options. Although by late 2019 we will have our own in-house catering team, we are still open to working with external caterers using our facilities at Tawstock Court.
Do you have a PA system that we can use?
Yes we have a great PA system set up in our reception room, The Old Refectory which you can use. Please chat to us about this.
What facilities are available if the weather is poor?
We have a number of indoor spaces available in the main house along with a large sports hall facility which can hold anything from bouncy castles to badminton nets.
