North Devon has a number of towns within a short distance of Tawstock Court that offer great places to eat, stay, relax, party and are gateways to adventures in the local area.


Barnstaple is the regional capital of North Devon and there is lots to do here whether it is eating out, visiting museums, shopping or is the starting point of your North Devon adventure.

Ilfracombe has a growing reputation as a culinary and art hotspot. Ilfracombe is also home to Damien Hirst’s famous Verity statue, which overlooks the beautiful harbour.

Bideford is a picturesque little town that has lots of little independent shops and restaurants. It is also the gateway to the island of Lundy with a ferry leaving the quayside regularly.

John Soanes Lantern Restoration

In 2015 we undertook restoration work on the Sir John Soanes lantern that is an integral part of the Tawstock Court building. When we first took over the building there were a number of leaks in the ceiling and a lot of the plasterwork had been damaged through water ingress.
